Shane's ball pics

This is Shane's first year playing on the Tuesday night church softball league. Now that the season is over, I have to say that he grew in his ability to play the game and his knowledge of how to play.

He even ended his last bat of the season with an in the park home run!!! He is still quite proud of himself, as am I.

Our trip to Chicago

I was recently privileged to be able to take my Cadette Girl Scout troop to Chicago with the profits from their cookie sales. We stayed the week with my sister and saw many sites throughout the city.

Formally known as the Sears Tower, we rode to the 113th floor to walk out on the Sky Deck and look out over the city.

This is as I look down from the Sky Deck. The view was spectacular. My only regret was that we were not able to see it at sunset.

Becka suggested that we visit this grist mill close to her place. We were all interested in how they ground the different grains. This was also one of the stops on the Underground Railroad.

On Thursday, we visited Alder Planetarium. I know Shane enjoyed seeing all of the different space exhibits and stars.

We also visited the Navy Pier that day. There were a lot of little stores to wander through and a large ferris wheel.

This has got the be my most favorite pic from the whole trip. There is a botanical garden at the Navy Pier. Shane said that he bet that he could touch the water spouting between the plants. I told him he was welcome to try but I wanted proof. This is Shane reaching for all he's worth and just missing the top of the arch. I think I like this one the most because it's not something that you can go somewhere and just see, like many of the exhibits in all of the places that we visited.

We also went to the Shedd Aquarium, the Science and Industry Museum, Field Museum, and Lincoln Park. One of the girls had never been to the beach, so she we took her to a beach and let her stick her toes in Lake Michigan. We all experience Chicago pizza and hot dogs.

Our pets

We have recently gotten a new puppy, more by default than anything. I thought I'd put up pics of all of our pets.

Jack likes to lay in the chair in the winter on top of a heating pad. I don't spoil my
pets at all.

Dozer (the new puppy) running around the yard. I was actually able to catch him when he stopped for a moment.

Dazi and Dozer running around the yard waiting for Jack to show up.

Somewhere around here I also have pics of my cats (Echo and Laila). I guess I'll have to keep hunting.
